Bead/Chile Fiesta

The final countdown to the Fourteenth Annual Bead/Chile Fiesta has begun. Only 1 month and 2 days until the gathering. A group of beaders used to converse on the old Prodigy bulletin boards and decided we should meet in Santa Fe for a weekend of beading, eating, shopping and having fun. We've met once a year since that time and this will be our fourteenth year. Beaders have come from as far away as Cape Cod, Chicago, Florida, Texas, Oregon, California and of course New Mexico. I'm sure I've forgotten some states so I'll apologize in advance. We will meet Thursday night and depart Monday morning. Our classes are taught by the attendees and are free. Am I excited? YOU BET!!! And why the name? I have no idea except that our plans for the first gathering was to bead and eat green chile. Works for me!

Repairs

I started repairing the damage Sam did to my beadwork. It's easier to do the Frog Stitch (rippit rippit) than it is to make repairs. I finally got the large piece done but the small piece is dead! It's a good thing that dog is cute because it's hard to stay mad at him. Last night he went into our bedroom and was gone a long time so Coop peeked in to see what he was doing. He was putting his favorite stuffed toy to bed with it's head on my pillow! It took a lot of work to get it just right with the covers pulled up so only the head was showing. I took a photo with my cell phone and it's not clear and the colors are wrong. Naturally my real camera was in the office. Trust me, this was cute!!! Yeah, I know..... I'm repulsive when it comes to Sam!

There are days.....

There are days when I wonder why I just had to have a Bichon Frise puppy. Yes, Sam is on the top of my bad list today. I have been working on a necklace this week. It's one of the things I can see in my mind but I've been having trouble getting it to work. I finally got the first two parts to work, put my bead tray down and took a break. You guessed it. Sam found the tray and stole both of the pieces. One has a big tooth hole in the center. It can be repaired but the other piece is in the trash. BIG sigh.

Chiles!

You know fall is just around the corner when the chile roasters appear. I love the smell of the roasting green chiles! This weekend we found the most beautiful ristras so of course I had to buy three for my front porch.... and two for my kitchen.... and two to send to friends. We had two shopping carts filled with ristras. A woman looked at them and told me I was getting a good start on my Christmas gifts. I didn't dare tell her they were almost all for ME!

Bead block gone? LOL!

For the first time in weeks I finished a bead project. I made a necklace for my dentist's assistant's Chihuahua puppy! She has tons of clothes for the dog and even puts it in pajamas every night. I keep telling her that it's a DOG but she insists it's her baby. Do you think it's time for me to get a new dentist?

Help!

I'm being held captive by the evil redecorating troll. I've been painting my bedroom. One wall and an archway is now a beautiful deep chocolate brown. My hands and clothes are now dotted with deep chocolate brown. I'm sick and tired of this job. I've been sewing stuff too and I hate sewing. I think I'm pretty close to having this mess finished.
A wise person once told me that when you begin to paint a room you should just move to another house instead. This is so true. When one wall looks good the next room looks horrible. Before long the entire house looks horrible and it's all because of painting the first stinking wall.

New use for beading thread!

I was making a new padded headboard today and ran out of thread. I didn't want to go to the store so I searched through my bead box. I found a spool of OneG beading thread that matched beautifully! I wasn't sure it would work in a sewing machine but it did. Hooray for beading thread!

Poor pitiful Suzanne

I'm missing something here. Bead & Button has photos of 80 pieces that were entered in the contest but I can't find the winners. Bead Dreams 2008 - I've searched the site and didn't find them. If you know the URL for them please tell me in a comment. Thanks! I need to see the winners so I can feel even more sorry for myself. I pulled a muscle in my upper arm yesterday and it hurts. I'm talking big time hurt. I can't bead. I have a hard time holding up a book so I can't read well. I'm just a pitiful mess. Ohhhh .... I know what I can do even with one arm. I can eat mass quantities of chocolate! Just thinking about chocolate makes me feel better. I'm off of this computer so I can dig in the cabinet for my hidden stash of chocolate!
